Loot Legends closed beta is starting August 1st and runs until August 11th. There are many systems to learn in the game and a lot of them are not so obvious.
Since I was lucky enough to get into the private test of the game, here are 7 tips you should know when starting out in Loot Legends!
Table of Contents
1. Do Your Daily Tasks!
Daily Tasks are mini-objectives that you can complete everyday to earn a combination of Gold, Diamonds, EXP, and Daily Activity Points. They provide a steady inflow of resources and experience, but the biggest reason you should try to complete them is for Raffle Tickets.
Daily tasks in addition to all other daily systems in the game refresh at 5PM everyday.
Daily Activity Rewards
As I mentioned above, each Daily Task you complete will reward you with a combination of Gold, Diamonds, EXP, and Daily Activity Points.
Daily Activity Points are important because each point goes towards your progression through the Daily Rewards bar. The Daily Rewards has three checkpoints: 90 Daily Activity Points, 180 Activity Points, and 270 Activity Points.
180 and 270 Activity Points are important to reach because they reward you with 1 x Raffle Tickets each. Raffle Tickets allow you to roll on the Premium Pet Rewards Box for free! Normally, you can roll on the Premium Box once every 48 hours for free, after that each roll starts at a whopping 300 x Diamonds.
Pets are a vital source of power towards your character, airship, and earning rewards. Legendary Pets can be acquired from the Premium Box so getting as many roll opportunities as you can is huge!
Tip for "Enter the Crystal Tower Battle 3 Times" Daily Task
One of the Daily Tasks that you will see that requires you to “Enter the Crystal Tower Battle 3 times”. To complete this task, you will have to reach the last level and defeat the end boss of the dungeon to unlock the Crystal Tower.
Dungeons get exponentially harder and take more time as you progress through the game – sometimes you will not have enough power to complete the next dungeon. For the first few days of my playtest, this Daily Task was not one of my favorites to say the least. I thought… “wow I have to enter the Crystal Tower on the Level 40 Lava Dungeon 3 times just for this task?” Getting through the dungeon was hard enough.
But then I had a eureka. I can just do the Proving Grounds (Level 1-2) 3 times! Doing this task on the starter dungeon is the fastest way to complete this Daily Task. Simply ignore the mobs, and run through to the boss on each level.
This tip may seem obvious, but it is something that personally took me a while to think of.
2. Upgrade Your Homeland Buildings
Your Home Base provides a continuous source of gold and crystals – as well other loot, crafting materials, and character buffs. If you are familiar with the game Clash of Clans, this system should be familiar to you.
Base Tower
Upgrading your Base Tower allows you to build more homeland buildings, so this should be your main priority to level up. Homeland buildings can only be upgraded to a certain level until they require a certain level of your Home Base.
Gold Mines
Gold Mines are a fantastic way to passively increase your gold income, and leveling these up will increase their capacity and output per hour.
Crystal Mines
Crystal Mines allow you to gain a passive source of Crystals, which are used to upgrade your homeland buildings.
Towers
Towers can be built and upgraded to permanently increase your character’s stats. There are Towers for HP, MP, ATK, DEF, Hit, EVA, Crit, and Anti-Crit.
Airship
The Airship is used to invade other player’s home bases. This rewards you with Gold, Crystals, Upgrade Gears, Energy Cores and occasionally Pet Fragments. You can assign your Pets to your Airship to increase its’ power, as well as upgrade your Airship’s ATK, DEF, and Speed with Upgrade Gears and Energy Cores.
Banquet Hall
The Banquet Hall is a homeland building that allows you to host Banquets with up to 2 other players. They can be started Solo, but having Friends or Guild Members attend your banquets will increase your rewards.
Wishing Pond
The Wishing Pond is a homeland building that allows you to cast a “Wish” for a Pet, Equipment, or Gold Reward. You get two wishes per day, but the second wish requires inviting friends to complete.
Alchemy Workshop
The Alchemy Workshop allows you to craft powerful potions that you can use to buff your character in dungeons. Leveling this building increases the power and variety of potions you can craft.
It is essential that you upgrade all of your homeland buildings when you can, but it can be a challenging to balance between using your resources to upgrade your homebase or upgrading your character.
3. Use the Smelter to Forge Items
The Furnace can be used to smelt and forge your equipment. Smelting is used to obtain Scraps from deconstructing equipment. Forging is used to craft powerful gear with Scraps.
Forging is a good way to fill out your character’s equipment or acquire a missing set piece. You can re-roll for zero cost up to 3 times per day and then there will be an increasing Diamond cost. Forging does cost a significant amount of Scraps, especially for Legendary equipment, so make sure to use them wisely!
4. Auto-Skilling / Auto-Battle
Many systems in Loot Legends can be automated, including combat. Players have the option to select one of three battle modes: Manual Battle, Auto-battle, and Auto-skill. You can toggle between Battle Modes by clicking on the button in the bottom-left of the screen (indicated by green arrows in picture above).
Manual Battle
Manual Battle mode gives you complete control over your character’s movement, skills, and item usage. You control your every move.
Auto-battle
Auto-battle mode gives the game control over your character’s movement and basic attacking. Your character will automatically move and destroy barrels and target and attack enemies in range. You will have control over your skills and item usage.
Auto-skill
Auto-skill mode gives the game complete control over your character’s movement, skills, and item usage. You can still manually override your movement and cast skills, but the game will also do it for you as long as you are in range of a target.
Choosing between these battle modes can be useful. Obviously manual mode gives you the most freedom and is especially useful when you want to optimize your battle strategy. Auto-battle is good for when you want your character to always be targeting an enemy, but you have control over the skills you use. Auto-skill is useful for when you just want to put the game on autopilot and just passively monitor the game.
Beware of Auto-skill
Auto-skill mode can be very addicting, because you can barely look at your phone and you can still advance through dungeons and pick up all the loot. It works great for easier encounters and lower levels of dungeons.
However, you will eventually find out it becomes problematic in tougher fights and longer dungeons because the game will cast skills or use potions that aren’t necessary – essentially wasting items and resources. So you auto-skill your way until the end boss and realize your HP and MP is at 30% and you have no more potions left – sadge. But because Auto-skill is computer-controlled, the reaction time between using skills and potions is much faster so it can potentially increase your damage or survivability.
Potions can be tough to come by sometimes, especially during long dungeon runs. Auto-skilling will chew through your resource sustain because skills are basically cast on-cooldown and not on a strategic basis. I suggest using it either when your potions and sustain are not an issue, or use it on a specific encounters, or just when ya feeling lazy lol.
5. Keeping Unbound Gear from Dungeons
Loot Legends has a “Soulbound” mechanic that only allows you leave dungeons with equipment that have been soulbound. Upon returning to town or dying in a dungeon, you will lose all items in your inventory that are not soulbound.
Equipment can only be soulbound by using an Altar of Soulbinding, which can be found randomly throughout a dungeon or by using a Scroll of Altar of Soulbinding.
You can only bind 4 pieces of equipment or runes per Altar of Soulbinding. This makes it important to use the altars only AFTER you’ve cleared out a dungeon and acquired all of the possible loot. Altars of Soulbinding are tough to find, which makes most of your inventory meaningless until you find one.
But here's a trick!
You will inevitably come across a time where Altars of Soulbinding are seemingly non-existent, or you picked up a sweet piece of gear and you just have to find a way to leave the dungeon with it.
Well here’s a trick, equip the unbound items before you leave!
I’m not sure if this is an intended mechanic, but it is one to keep in mind. Equipping unbound items prevents them from being destroyed when leaving the dungeon or returning to town.
By doing this, you give yourself the opportunity to save your unbound items and start a new dungeon run and find an Altar of Soulbinding. Just be sure to bind your items when you can, because if you do unequip it and die or leave a dungeon with it in your inventory you will lose it forever!
Soulbinding Tip!
Like previously mentioned with compeleting the Crystal Tower daily task, you can go to the Proving Grounds to soulbound your items easy! You will usually find two altars in the dungeon, and doing this removes the risk of dying and losing your items in higher level dungeons.
6. Upgrade Your Runes!
Runes are an incredible source of passive power for your character. They give massive buffs to your stats and can be upgraded by combining 3 runes of the same level to receive 1 rune of the next level.
Runes can be slotted in your “Sacred Objects” screen where you have 6 rune loadouts you can fill with runes. Only 1 rune type can be used per loadout, so choose your runes wisely and always upgrade and replace lower level runes when you have enough!
7. Join A Guild
Joining a Guild in Loot Legends has many benefits from accessing the Guild Shop, doing Guild Tasks for rewards, earning rewards for challenging Guild Bosses, and passively buffing your character through Guild Skills.
Guilds gives you easy access to inviting friends to your Banquets, as well as easy access for guildmates to help you purge your Home Base of invading monsters and reducing upgrade times!
Guild Boss Challenge Rewards
When you are in a Guild, you can do a Guild Boss Challenge 5 times per day. A Guild Boss challenge is a week-long challenge where all Guilds compete to deal the highest amount of damage collectively to Guild Bosses.
Guild Boss challenges consist of 4 different bosses. The last boss has infinite health so you just want to do as much damage as possible. I suggest using single-target abilities like Marking and other damage abilities because each Challenge has a 30 second timer where you will die anyways, so you may as well go glass cannon for these.
At the end of the week, the 10 highest ranked guilds in Boss DMG receive a juicy amount of rewards based on ranking. These rewards range from Diamonds, Contribution Points, and Rune Boxes.
Enjoy the Game!
Loot Legends is a breath of fresh air in the mobile gaming space. As a non-avid mobile gamer, I was surprised how hooked I was. The plethora of systems and how they complement each other, to smooth combat and skill variety make this game a potential huge hit.
ALSO NO ADS! That pretty much pushes it to the top 1% of mobile games already.
I hope these 7 tips can help you whether you are a new player just about to get started in the closed beta, or a veteran (lol) from the private test.
